As the Swiss capital, Bern is an important city of diplomats and the site of many international organizations and meetings. It's one of the oldest and loveliest cities in Europe, with origins going back to the 12th century. Since much of its medieval architecture remains today, Bern evokes the feeling of a large provincial town rather than a city. The old town of Bern is classified in the world cultural heritage of the UNESCO

Bern as the capital of Switzerland has beautifully preserved its historic character. The old town of Bern is classified in the world cultural heritage of the UNESCO and possesses 6 kilometers of arcades arbor, one of the longest trading walks covered and the most beautiful vestiges of the architecture of the Middle Ages in Europe.

The best views of the old city surrounded by the Aare is offered from the Rose Garden perched above the bear pits or the platform of the tower of 101 meters from the cathedral.

The shops, bars and cabaret stages of the old city, which are located in vaulted cellars, and the small street cafes attract locals as tourists. It is very pleasant to walk in the city of Bern.

The largest collection of works by the artist Paul Klee is kept in the Zentrum Paul Klee on the outskirts of the city.

Bern is distinguished by many and varied exhibitions, such as the Historical Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Swiss Alpine Museum or the Museum of Communication. In summer, the river Aare, which is clean, the delight of swimmers, the most experienced swim willingly to the height of the Palace located in high-cons. The banks also bathe the botanical garden, the zoo Dählhölzli.

The bear is the animal emblem of the city, his own home Bern bear pit. In spring, the bears point to the tip of their nose and are covered with treats, fruits and vegetables sold a little further.
